So I know (by trying it out) that you can copy Steam game files from one PC to another and make the game run with the copied files. This is a different issue than merely copying game files (which has been answered many times), because no answers I've found on here are applicable and will work:
Eject any game discs, 9. If you have a Steam account, launch your Steam client and log-in. If not, download the Steam client and create a Steam account, taking note of the email and log-in credentials you use, 10. Locate the installer file, typically titled run.exe or install.exe, 11.
- Steam will examine the game’s files and – if any problems are detected – will re-download the corrupted files from Steam’s servers. To validate a game’s cache, right-click the game in your Steam library and select Properties.
- Apparently on the Xbox One, if you pre-order a game digitally it will pre-download it and allow you to play immediately when it launches. Jump to content. My subreddits. Edit subscriptions. Does Steam allow pre-downloads? Submitted 3 years ago by [deleted].
Today I bought Borderlands 2, which my brother already has installed. When I tried to just copy the game files over to my PC, I noticed there was no Borderlands folder anywhere in SteamApps
and its subdirectories, but only a folder called 49520
inside SteamAppsdownloading
.
So I tried just copying the game files to that folder while Steam was closed, started Steam again, and... nothing. It just went on downloading the game like there were no new files inside that folder.
Where To Download Game Manuals In Steam Engine
Is there anything to do about this?

To copy Steam game files from another computer to save you having to download the full game, simply do the following;
- Cancel the download on your machine and delete local files for the game
- Close Steam on your computer
- Copy the whole folder Borderlands 2 from your brother's PC into
SteamSteamAppscommon
- Delete the .exe since every user has it's own .exe if Steam DRM is used (what BL2 in fact does)
- Tell Steam to download Borderlands 2 and it will discover the existing files
- Verify files to get your own .exe and make sure nothing is corrupted
Just a quick thing, before you restart Steam after copying the files, you MAY wish to copy the relevant Appmanifest_xxxx.acf file too, where the x's are a number specific to each product on Steam. to find out WHICH appmanifest file is the one for the game you're using, visit the game's page on Steampowered.com and you'll notice the URL has a number as the last part of it.
For example, Dark Souls 2's page is http://store.steampowered.com/app/236430/ ... that 236430 will correspond to a file in steam/steamapps/ called 'Appmanifest_236430.acf' . Copy that into the same directory on YOUR PC, so for example D:/games/Steam/Steamapps/ or whatever your steam location is. It goes in Steamapps, NOT in steamapps/common and NOT in the same directory for the game either. That is important.
THEN you should be able to open steam, tell it to download, then verify the installation. and you should be hunky-dory.

I recently signed up with Steam and bought a few discounted games, but I can't find any manuals for them. I assumed they'd be installed along with the games, but I can't find any sign of them or of download links for them on Steam. Am I missing something?
(The games are Crysis, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge and Burnout Paradise.)

There is a thread on the Steam forums about this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1196986
- Check the steam store page. You can right-click the game, click 'view store page' and then see if there is a 'view the manual' link in the lower right.
- If there is no manual link there, go to Google and search for the manual there.

Where To Download Game Manuals In Steam Games
Not a lot of games include manuals with their Steam versions. If they are available, you can open them by right-clicking the game and choosing View Player Manual
.
I just checked, Mirror's Edge (the only game I have in your list) doesn't have a manual, only support pages.
I checked the Steam store page for each of the games you own. As Arda stated, Mirror's Edge does not have a manual. On the Steam store page for each game, when you scroll down, if there is a manual for the game, you will usually find it in the right hand column near the bottom. I believe you can view the manual even if you don't own the game by clicking on that link in the store page. It is worth noting that if you own the Fallout 3: GotY edition, the manual is listed on the store entry for Fallout 3 vanilla edition, but not the GotY version.
