Ever since upgrading to Windows 10, the scanner on my HP Envy 4501 printer is no longer working. It is worth noting that the device is printing just fine, but not scanning. I've probably tried every 'known' recommended solution possible. This includes uninstalling my printer, deleting all files in the Windows temp folder, restarting my computer, downloading the new driver from HP which supposedly supports windows 10, running the HP Print and Scan doctor program... When I run the HP doctor program, it comes back stating it fails the Driver Check...but after the Windows WIA scan it says it has fixed the problem. I restart my computer and try to scan, but it still does not work. I've repeated these instructions at least 20 times. I've tried disabling my firewall. I've also tried to run the Installation driver program under Windows 7 Compatibility, disconnecting/reconnecting my printer, setting it to factory default settings... This does not work either. I've tried these steps by both trying to install the printer as Wireless, and as a direct USB connection. Neither work.
My question is this: can it have something to do with windows scanning drivers? Is there a way where I can delete EVERY POSSIBLE TRACE of my printer software, including any possible windows scan drivers that may be causing conflict? I have contacted HP technical support for help but they were not able to assist me/solve my problem. If anyone can help me, I am all ears. I have been trying to fix this problem for over a week and I am completely stumped.
